Welcome Back, Baseball
This is, by far, the coolest map I’ve ever seen.
You can contribute to the map team boundaries by entering your MLB team alliance and zip code at www.unitedcountriesofbaseball.com. You can also download desktop wallpaper and even buy a United Countries of Baseball at t-shirt.
Go Brewers!

As a preteen, I had this George Michael poster over my bed.
George Michael music was the soundtrack of my youth as I danced away the days in my parents’ basement and driveway.
After my early affection for George, it’s no wonder I loved the rock version of the song as soon as I heard it on the local hard rock station, 93X. Seether has covered George Michael’s Careless Whisper and it rocks.
Careless Whisper
by George Michael and Andrew Ridgeley
I feel so unsure
As I take your hand and lead you to the dance floor
As the music dies, something in your eyes
Calls to mind the silver screen
And all its sad goodbyes
I’m never gonna dance again
Guilty feet have got no rhythm
Though it’s easy to pretend
I know you’re not a fool
Should’ve known better than to cheat a friend
And waste the chance that I’ve been given
So I’m never gonna dance again
The way I danced with you
Time can never mend
The careless whispers of a good friend
To the heart and mind
Ignorance is kind
There’s no comfort in the truth
Pain is all you’ll find
I’m never gonna dance again
Guilty feet have got no rhythm
Though it’s easy to pretend
I know you’re not a fool
Should’ve known better than to cheat a friend
And waste this chance that I’ve been given
So I’m never gonna dance again
The way I danced with you
Never without your love
Tonight the music seems so loud
I wish that we could lose this crowd
Maybe it’s better this way
We’d hurt each other with the things we’d want to say
We could have been so good together
We could have lived this dance forever
But no one’s gonna dance with me
Please stay
And I’m never gonna dance again
Guilty feet have got no rhythm
Though it’s easy to pretend
I know you’re not a fool
Should’ve known better than to cheat a friend
And waste the chance that I’ve been given
So I’m never gonna dance again
The way I danced with you
(Now that you’re gone) Now that you’re gone
(Now that you’re gone) What I did’s so wrong
That you had to leave me alone

I recently attended a Masala Bhangra Workout Master Class. The event was organized by my Zumba instructor and the class was full of mostly other Zumba instructors. I had never tried the Masala Bhangra Workout, but decided it must be good if so many Zumba enthusiasts we planning to attend.
Actually, it was fantastic! The Masala Bhangra Workout was created by Sarina Jain. Sarina Jane personally lead the workshop I attended in traditional Indian clothing. She is somewhat of a celebrity in the fitness world and has her own program on FitTV and ExerciseTV.tv. She has even been called the Jane Fonda of India.
Sarina Jain herself is one of only a few certified Masala Bhangra Workout instructors in the world. She personally trains and certifies all Masala Bhangra instructors to maintain the culture and integrity of her program. Masala Bhangra instructor training is held in major cities across the U.S. The Masala Bhangra Workout is currently recognized by AFAA and is soon-to-be recognized by ACE.
Masala means “spicy mixture” and Bhangra is a folk dance of northern India, specifically the Punjab region of India and Pakistan. The Bhangra folk dance is combined with Bollywood film-style Indian dancing.
In the Masala Bhangra Workout Master Class, we learned specific Indian dance moves and techniques and built a fun, sexy routine. We ended the hour-long workshop by forming a circle and crossing the room and dancing as a group. Sarina Jain said we would each burn about 500 calories, depending on the intensity we put into the workout. I was completely drenched with sweat after the workout and I can feel the workout today in my legs – especially in my calves and hamstrings.
You can not help but dance to the Bhangra Bollywood-style Hindi pop music. It features singing over music driven by a certain kind of drum called the Dhol. It is very recognizable and stays with you long after Masala Bhangra class. It is the type of music you might hear at an Indian Wedding Reception.
I am sure to purchase the Masala Bhangra Workout DVDs as there are no certified instructors in my area. Yet.

I Like Diet Coke, But I Like Losing Weight More
I wouldn’t describe myself as religious, but I gave up pop for Lent. It was more or less for something to do, or something not to do. With 9 days of Lent to go, according to the Offical Lent Countdown site, I ask myself, will I be giving up soda for good? The truth is, I haven’t decided yet.
I am one of the many unemployed people in the United States. I currently collect unemployment while looking for work and studying for the GRE. I spend most of my free time at the gym (Zumba(!), yoga, etc.) and/or running.
I lost about 20 pounds pretty easily after I was laid off due to less money for dining out and more time for exercise, but by mid-February, I had hit a wall where regardless of how much I ate, drank, or exercised, I wasn’t losing any weight. I was stuck at 126 pounds.
Then came Lent. I had never given up anything for Lent before and I decided it would be a nice challenge to give up something for a few weeks.
I don’t eat very much and I don’t eat a wide variety of foods so there were no food stuffs I could realistically give up for Lent. It came down to Mint Conditions from Caribou Coffee or Diet Coke. I love Mint Conditions, and I mean love. Mint Conditions, while expensive and unhealthy, are a treat and pick me up when I’m feeling blue. Giving up Mint Conditions for Lent was not an option. Giving up Diet Coke was my only option so I decided to give up all pop/soda.
Life went on as usual (minus soda) and about two weeks ago, I noticed that I started losing weight again. I am currently down to 121 and the only change I’ve made in my diet and routine has been cutting out pop for Lent.
On the downside, giving up soda has increase my alcohol intake. I am often the driver on nights out and Diet Coke with a slice of lemon was a nice alternative to alcohol. Diet Coke is not as boring and easier to drink than plain ice water, plus based on appearance, it could be a mixed drink and helps me feel like I fit into the bar scene when I’m not drinking. Since I gave up pop, I tend to order a Miller Lite even when I don’t really want or need one.
Will I give up Diet Coke for good, or will I take it back up on Easter Sunday? Only time will tell.
