Gearing up for World Cup 2014: Waka Waka

June 4th, 2014

World Cup 2014 is almost here and I CAN’T WAIT!!!!!

I will be incorporating World Cup-related music into my Zumba classes all World Cup long (June 12 – July 13, 2014). Here’s the first and most obvious: Waka Waka (This Time for Africa) by Shakira. It was the official song of FIFA World Cup 2010 in South Africa.

If you haven’t already used Waka Waka in your Zumba classes, time to choreograph a routine! (Watch the video below, and half your choreography is done!)

If you retired Waka Waka from your Zumba playlist, time to bring it out of retirement!

Do yourself a favor and watch the video, again! (Shakira’s beloved, Gerard Piqué of Spain, is the first footballer featured… Awww!)

Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show Ripped Off George Michael’s Too Funky Video

December 7th, 2012

Look familiar? It’s clear to me that the 2012 Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show completely ripped off George Michael’s “Too Funky” video. Unless they came up with the whole “girl-wearing-handlebars” idea themselves? I doubt it. Did anyone else make the connection?

Zumba Prostitution Scandal in Maine

November 17th, 2012

Female Zumba instructors: Have you seen an increase of the number of men coming to your Zumba classes? Zumba can be sexy, but one instructor allegedly took her sexy moves too far.

Zumba Prostitute Alexis Wright

Alexis Wright, a Zumba instructor in Kennebunk, Maine has pleaded not guilty to 106 counts including prostitution, invasion of privacy, and tax-related counts.  She is accused of selling sex in her fitness studio and a nearby office, and of secretly videotaping some of the encounters. Here’s a link news about Zumba prostitution scandal from CBS.

Unfortunately, I had not heard of the Zumba prostitution scandal until one of my Zumba class participants mentioned it to me. How embarrassing! Knowledge is power, Zumba instructors! Let’s not give our fellow Zumba instructors a bad reputation!
